HSA has taken the concept of physician empowerment and engagement to a new level within the physician placement industry.  We have achieved this through the development of our leadership structure, which includes a Chief Medical Officer who also serves as an Executive Vice President with our firm.  This leader insures that we act in a manner that is congruent with the physician marketplace.  He also interacts with our candidates in order to ascertain: their motivation for making a move, their ability to thrive and fit in our client’s environments, and, in general engages physician candidates in a manner that can only be accomplished physician-to-physician.  In addition to this unique physician focused leadership structure, our firm has developed a Physician Advisory Committee, comprised of physicians representing a wide array of specialties.  This Committee is an additional touch-point to the physician marketplace and is a key to keeping our firm on the cutting edge.  We believe we are unique in our approach and have seen the difference it makes in our ability to meet our Clients’ needs.

 

 2. Our Commitment to Partnering

We want to be Your Partner in Physician Recruitment. Our willingness to customize our overall agreement, create individualized marketing strategies and work as an extension of your organization, should make this apparent. Many of our engagements have a "consulting" aspect, which, given our "real-world experience", is a strong capability of our firm. We are even prepared to place a Search Consultant or Research Associate on site at your organization on an interim or as needed basis.

3. Our Ability to Manage Complex Engagements

Our firm is known for its ability to manage large, complex engagements, which typically include several searches. In fact, presently 95% of our engagements are in a multiple-search format, and consist of anywhere from two to 24 searches. These engagements have a median of six searches per engagement.

Our firm's ability to deliver on complex, multiple-search engagements is the result of coupling our firm's Commitment to Partnering (see #2 above) with the background, skills, and experiences of our team. With the team that we have assembled, consisting of individuals with successful track records as in-house recruitment leaders and CEO's as successful and well-respected medical groups, hospitals, and health systems, we have the right players to successfully conduct large, complex search engagements. We are able to leverage our understanding of medical group culture, group/organizational design , and recruitment processes to hit the market full-stride on day one. We efficiently assess, recommend, and execute a successful search strategy and "ramp-up" multiple searches in very short period of time. Our firm possesses the necessary infrastructure and work processes to effectively initiate and execute successful plans regardless of the number of searches or the degree of complexity.

4. Our Pay-for-Performance Approach

Horton, Smith & Associates does not ask you to pay for services before we perform on your behalf, a refreshing approach in our business. Our fee is payable at the following performance levels.

  • A third upon initiation of our agreement, when we begin implementing your approved marketing plan
  • A third paid in monthly installments during the resource intensive first four months of your search
  • A third when a qualified candidate completes an on site interview.

6. Our Staff Investment

Horton, Smith & Associates invests heavily in staff that are dedicated to identifying physicians who match your particular need. In fact, each of our Search Consultants is supported by a talented Research Associate, on a 1:1 ratio. This means that you have both a Search Consultant, coordinating and overseeing your particular search, and a Research Associate working behind the scenes. This generous staff investment sets us apart and leads to our, and therefore your, success in the very challenging physician recruitment marketplace.

7. Our Value-Added Services

We begin working for you even before the agreed-upon marketing plan goes into effect. After completing an on-site visit, we initiate a comprehensive practice assessment, designed to help you understand the overall market position of your search. We then apply our own real-world experience to the assessment, suggesting key strategies and offering recommendations to attract key talent and bring your search to a successful conclusion. We go the extra mile - so you can succeed. We also work closely with candidates, guiding them through resume preparation and presentation, proper interview techniques, and contract expectations.
